Persons with Group I Disabilities and Persons with Severe Functional Limitations Can Also Obtain a Passport Through a Representative

Pursuant to the amendments made to the RA Law "On the Passport of a Citizen of the Republic of Armenia", starting from March 14, 2024, persons with Group I disabilities or persons with severe functional limitations have the right to obtain a passport based on an application submitted by their representatives.

In such cases, the medical-social expert examination decision regarding the citizen's disability or the person's functional assessment decision (administrative act) shall be attached to the application, and if the person has been recognized as a person with a disability in a foreign state, the document certifying the disability or its notarized copy shall be attached. If compiled in a foreign language, the applicant shall also submit its Armenian translation certified in accordance with the procedure established by law.

By the amendment made to the regulations approved by the Republic of Armenia Government Decision No. 821 of December 25, 1998, "On Approving the Regulations of the Passport System in the Republic of Armenia and the Description of the Passport of a Citizen of the Republic of Armenia", it has been established that to obtain the document through a representative, a power of attorney certified in accordance with the procedure established by law must be submitted along with the aforementioned documents.

Persons with Group I disabilities or persons with severe functional limitations can also exercise the same right when obtaining an identification card (ID card).
